OPPORTUNITY

If I have to look at one more boring car configurator… jeez! Now, bear in mind, this was 2014, and car websites were all a bit meh: template-driven, uninspiring, and awkward to use. KIA approached VCCP to pitch for the KIA account and told us to use the new KIA Soul. And we had just three days to do it!

Solution

We pitched a website experience where hamsters would introduce vehicle features; change the rims etc. on the car when configuring the options; take you for a test drive using Google Cardboard (or you could take the driver’s seat with hamsters as passengers), and dance when completing the test drive/purchase flow. You could also visualise the new car on your driveway using AR and configure your vehicle based on a visual and audio sensory quiz experience.

Despite only having about 72 hours to complete the work, to this day I’m still proud of the quality and volume of the designs and ideas. And KIA agreed that we had done a good job – we won the account by a country mile.
